TiltShift App Reviews

Fantastic

Absolutely love it. Simple. Intuitive. Stable. Does what it says it does. Produces great looking images. Only improvement I would ask for is the ability to change the size of the focal area.

Great app, big flaw

This app works great and outputs very nice results, unless you want to make a portrait shot, it crops the pic to a square size when using portrait mode. Weird, because it does not crop the landscape shots...

Amazing technology

But when I take a picture and click "use photo" it just takes me to some stock picture, and doesnt even save it! This needs to be fixed!!!

Cool app. few suggestions...

Great little app to manipulate photos on the phone, really makes them look nice. One thing it needs is a slider to control the feathering on the blur. After that, the next step could be to support multiple windows. Each with the ability to blur or do basic color modifications. A wish, though maybe not possible, would be to introduce a sort of brightness/exposure control to braket photos and make tone-mapped HDR photos. With a few of these suggestions I think this could be a killer app. Still good app as is, looking forward to updates! Thanks! Update. I ran into the same problem as review #2 only after I read the review. Seems to be a bug that needs to be ironed out.

Ive been looking for this!

I have always wanted to know how to do this, and this app works great! Rarely crashes, and is really fun!

Nice app, just not for the Iphone

The app is actually pretty cool. But because it is on an iphone I find it useless. If they ever came out with a new iphone with a decent camera then I could see paying for this app. But if you love taking advanced photos on your iphone then perhaps it is worth trying.

Nice

Very desirable photo effects

Lensbaby on the iphone

Excellent use of multitouch. Like my Lensbaby on my DSLR, but MORE powerful. I can change the focus area, size and amount of falloff significantly easier, and with more control post-production than with LB. Of course all shots do not lend themselves to the effect. Check out lensbaby on the web to see examples of this effect, that are now available on your iPhone. This program along with HP print app will dramatically increase my use of the iPhone camera. Great job. Cant think of any improvements. Very satisfied customer.

Great Idea, but . . .

Using it is slick and easy and works great on your own images . . . except the saved images look horrible and what looks like less than half the resolution - not what it looked like in the app.

Great app, easy to use

I have been using this for a couple of months. TiltShift lets you add effects to iPhone photos that normally would require an expensive camera lens or complicated software such as Photoshop. While typically used to achieve a "miniature" effect, the application can also be used to throw the background or foreground out of focus. In effect, it gives some conrol over the depth of field on a camera that is fixed focus. As others have noted, it does not work well with every photo; it depends on the composition of the photo and the desired effect. But on some photos the effect is really quite striking, especially if you are interested in "art" photography, and with an iPhone you can take some surprisingly good art photos (as in every graphic art the quality of the product depends more on the skill of the artist than on the sophistication of the equipment). Since this is an effect that is added after the photo is taken (rather than at the moment the photo is taken) you can play around with photos that you have taken months or years earlier. (E.g., take a photo from the 1940s, scan it, load it on your iPhone, and then use TiltShift). The app is easy to use and I have had no problems with it. For just a few bucks its a great tool to have available.

Its good!!!

Really good app!!! But please make an update for clearer pictures!!!

Simulate depth of field! Great!

The person who mentioned the "Lensbaby" product for dSLRs had it right. This is not just for simulating miniatures. In fact, thats the least of my concerns. You can use this to simulate small depth of field. Cool! You have full, flexible control of the shape, placement, and size of the out-of-focus area, with easy touch-based manipulation. Basically, you create a mask for the blur area. At $0.99, everybody interested in photography should grab this. Developers: you need to market this thing better!

One of the best photo apps

This app is the software equivilant to a Lensbaby lens if one was made for the iPhone. Very easy to use with outstanding results. One of the best photo apps out there. Definitely a keeper.

Sweet

Used in conjuntion with a few other photo apps, this one is a sweet final touch. I could do without the default, included photos though. There should be a way to delete them so I dont have to look at them again.

Good Idea But...

the final images resolution is very small. Other photo editing apps let us keep the same resolution as the original. The area that should be in focus is still a little blurred even with the area wide open. Please update the app with a fix.

Great effect... Nice interface

This effect, coupled with camerabag really makes for some exceptionally funky shots. The interface is really perfect for the task at hand. I dont think I could improve that at all. If I had one idea to make it perfect would be a way to finger paint out the final effect before you save. That way an object that youre trying to fake being in focus thats on top of something youre trying to push into the background will really pop. Also hoping that the program is saving the full size camera image. Not sure myself, but I see the feedback here about that.

Pretty Good

Its great and It does exactly what it says!! you should also check out Blurred Photo. It has much better controls and more features and its only .99cents!! Its similar to Colorsplash where everything in the photo is blurred then you touch the areas you want to be clear. It has an undo icon and an eraser icon in case u make a mistake, it also has an eraser icon. you can pan and zoom to work on greater details just like in Coloraplash, and those are just a few fetures just to mention. I have both Tiltshift and Blurred Photo but I use Blurred Photo more. Hope this helps it decision in which app to purchase.

This is amazingly good

This focuses (no pun intended) on doing one thing and, as an earlier reviewer said, it does it extremely well. You have complete control over what you do (with the exception of undo that it would be nice to have in a future version) and the degree of precision once you master the vontyols is fantastic. Also, it works at full (1536x2048) resolution on th iPhone 3G S.

Dont buy this, TiltShift Generator looks more better

This app is good but lack of features and doesnt do well. New TiltShift Generator looks great and cheap also.

Works very well

I love this app! Its a great tool to have along side my other photo manipulation tools. Id like to see an undo feature though :o
